The nomination deadline for BEEF magazine's 2006 National Stocker Award (NSA), and its $10,000 prize, is April 30. The award is designed to recognize the best U.S. stockers and backgrounders.

A finalist will be chosen from each of three categories: summer stocker operation (forage-based), fall/winter stocker operation (forage-based), and backgrounding/dry lot stocker (feed-based). The overall winner will receive the $10,000 award and an expenses-paid trip to the 2007 Cattle Industry Annual Convention.

Eligible nominees must derive a majority of their cattle revenue from their stocker/backgrounding business. Anyone can make a nomination, and stockers and backgrounders are encouraged to nominate their own programs.
