Local Cattle Ranch Becomes Destination For Memories

When Eddie Walker bought a 330-acre ranch in 2003, he fulfilled an entry on his dreams list.

Sabine Creek Ranch off Texas 276 between Royse City and Rockwall is still a working cattle ranch. But, the primary mission of Sabine Creek Ranch is for the acreage to be used for a children’s camp.

The facility is available for retreats and other events for groups of up to 350, but Walker and Rob Matchett, the camp’s program director, stress that kids are the priority.

Last year, Matchett said, about 4,400 people participated in camps, retreats and other events. About 2,600 of those participants were children.
