A combination of higher feed prices and a decreased pool of livestock is leading to higher prices for beef, chicken, and pork at local grocery stores.

Increased ethanol use has meant less corn for livestock feed, which raises the price.

Simultaneously, many farmers purposely decreased their livestocksupply with uncertainty surrounding the country's economic recession.

Combined with a natural increase in the demand for meat as grills come to life in the spring, the climate for meat prices isn't good.
