Dairy cattle still biggest test users, but dog testing and beef testing next biggest markets.
I sat down to chat with Stewart Bauck at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association national convention and trade show in Nashville, TN. Bauck is general manager of GeneSeek, the sales arm of the genetic testing firm Igenity, both of which are owned by Neogen.
Bauck told us the company’s level of beef genomic testing shot up dramatically last year, from 600,000 in 2012 to 1 million tests in 2013. That and increased usage among other species using their genomic testing actually forced the company to build new facilities.
