Three Ground-Beef Recalls Put E. Coli Back In News
Voluntary recalls of ground-beef for possible contamination with E.coli O157:H7 have been instituted in recent days. The three cases were discovered through routine Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) microbiological testing, with no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the products.
- Southeastern Meats, Chattanooga, TN, voluntarily recalled 4,337 lbs. of ground beef. The product was produced on July 31 and Aug. 1, and distributed to retail establishments and institutions in Georgia and Tennessee.
- Plains Meat Company, LTD., Lubbock, TX, voluntarily recalled 13,078 lbs. of ground beef products produced July 31 and Aug. 4 and sent to restaurants and distributors in Amarillo and Lubbock.
- Ray's Wholesale Meats, White, GA, voluntarily recalled 120 lbs. of ground beef produced on July 25 and distributed to retail establishments in Georgia.
