Although the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Organic Program recently laid out strict rules on feed and pasturing time for organic milk cows, officials are currently considering a proposal to allow some feedlot confinement for organic beef cattle. For example, they could be put in a feedlot for the last four months of their lives and fed grain.
