Are Burgers Healthy?

Harvard study links red meat consumption to higher rates of mortality, but red meat is actually a healthy part of the diet, according to Livestrong.com.

That’s the message spreading faster than Bieber fever after a study published by the Harvard School of Public Health linked red meat to higher rates of mortality.

The lead author of the study, An Pan, was quoted as saying, “Our study adds more evidence to the health risks of eating high amounts of red meat, which has been associated with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers in other studies.”

On the surface, the evidence seems overwhelming. The study tested more than 37,000 men and 83,000 women, and found that meat was linked with increases in cardiovascular mortality and cancer mortality.

But before you cancel your crusade to find the world’s best burger or put your local butcher out of work, you might want to keep reading.

Some one is always telling the public what foods are not healthy for them to eat. If your old enough to think back 40 years, there have been so many things in that time frame we've been told was bad for us to eat. Some of those things have changed over the years and some haven't. I can even remember when everything from soft drinks and peanut butter to eggs were supposed to be bad for us. We've been told so many things are bad and then changed, I personally don't take much stock in what is told to be bad anymore. Alot of the so called research on these foods is done in such controlled conditions, that its not true research. If you control the research conditions, you can make the outcome what you want it to be. I personally eat things daily that I've been told is bad for me to eat, eggs,beef, pork, breads, and others. I enjoy these and plan on continuing to eat the things I like.
