New combination approval
Elanco’s Pulmotil® (tilmicosin) has received FDA approval for feeding in combination with Rumensin®. The combination of Pulmotil, an in-feed bovine respiratory disease (BRD) treatment, and Rumensin, means producers can combine the only 14-day sustained, in-feed BRD treatment with the prevention and control of coccidiosis and feed efficiency improvements of Rumensin.
Pulmotil provides 14 days of sustained BRD in-feed therapy for groups of cattle in the early stages of an outbreak, thereby reducing handling stress. Pulmotil expands BRD control beyond the chute by providing another option for groups of cattle not requiring a metaphylaxis treatment on arrival and/or when labor resources are limited. By feeding Pulmotil, producers can reduce pulls, while requiring less individual animal management, the company says.

Cleaner hay grinder
The Model G278-30-400 Grinder with Feed Roller Assembly is the largest and latest generation of Warren & Baerg’s high-production, virtually dust-free round-bale grinders. Effectively processing round bales in excess of 20 tons/hour, and in a much cleaner environment than the traditional tub grinder, the unit can also handle square and mid-size bales.
The grinding systems consist of a bale feed conveyor with hood feed roller assembly, grinder, screens, and either an air discharge chute or takeaway conveyor system depending on customer specific needs and grind size. The grinder is electrically powered with two 200-hp motors and lower horsepower motors on the conveyors. On lower tonnage applications, the grinder can be sized with lower horsepower motors.

Even the best calving management can’t overcome an unhealthy start. AgriLabs’ Healthy Difference Program provides practical education and information, compiled by veterinarians, about how newborn calves can start and stay healthy from birth through weaning.
Directed towards both retailers and producers, the program is both a merchandising tool for retailers, to boost calf health product sales, and an information resource for producers to help them improve calf health and make informed product decisions, explains Adam Yankowsky, AgriLabs business unit manager.
