The Folding Hunter

New XUV line

Off-road performance, comfort and multi-passenger capability are the features of John Deere’s expanded lineup of Gator™ Crossover Utility Vehicles (XUV). The Gator™ Mid-Duty XUV 550 and 550 S4 units also offer cargo versatility and can transport up to four people across the most challenging landscapes.

Featuring fully independent, double-wishbone suspension, the Gator XUV 550 and 550 S4 provide 9 in. of wheel travel, and up to 10.5 in. of ground clearance. In addition, with the 550, you can choose from either standard high-back bucket or bench seats. The 550 S4 comes standard with two rows of bench seats.

Both vehicles have a top speed of 28 mph, and four-wheel drive. The 16-hp, 570-cc, air-cooled, v-twin gas engine provides greater speed and horsepower than most vehicles in its class, and the cargo box can carry up to 400 lbs. of gear. In addition, the 550 is small enough to fit in the bed of a standard pick-up truck.

The 3-in-1 Welderator

John Deere introduces the Welderator, a versatile 3-in-1 unit that includes an air compressor, generator and welder. Perfect for the farm, ranch and workshop, the stationary, gasoline-powered machine features an industrial Subaru overhead cam/overhead valve, 404-cc engine with electric start. The powder-coated ASME-coded, 30-ga. receiver tank is mounted on a heavy-duty 3/16-in. base plate that reduces vibration. The unit weighs 585 lbs. empty and is 46 in. long, by 22 in. wide and 47 in. high.

• When operated in generator mode, the unit provides 5,000 watts of output through two 120V, 20-amp receptacles. Users can select two speeds: idle down for use with the air compressor, or full-throttle to power the welder and generate electric power.
• The compressor pump is a two-stage compressor with a splash-lubricated cast-iron crankcase and durable stainless steel braided discharge hose. It’s capable of generating airflow at 16.3 cfm at 100 psi, or 15.7 cfm at 175 psi.
• In welder mode, the unit can produce a 50-170-amp arc suitable for most on-farm welding needs. The duty cycle (10-minute run time) is 150 amps at 100% power.
