Bovi-Shield Gold^® from Pfizer Animal Health has received USDA approval for single-dose prevention of bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV). The vaccine also protects against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), parainfluenza-3 (PI₃) and bovine virus diarrhea (BVD) types 1 and 2. The PI₃ strain was updated to provide better protection for subcutaneous (SubQ) administration.

The upgraded vaccine can be administered intramuscular or SubQ. These new claims do not apply to Bovi-Shield Gold^® FP^® reproductive vaccines.

Bale processor attachment

Vermeer's Final Cut^™ Feed Chopper Attachment (designed to work on Vermeer BP8000 bale processors) can chop long, coarse, stringy, frozen or wet material to a shorter cut length — typically 3 in. or less. It features 128 free-swing cutting blades mounted to a powered rotor bar that turns at speeds up to 3,000 rpm. An optional 28-bu. grain tank can feed grain, pellets or concentrates directly into the bale processor. It requires a minimum of 6 gals./min. hydraulic flow to operate the grain tank.

Vertical mixers

Kuhn North America's VSL 142 and VSL 150 Vertical Maxx mixer models feature a low profile for easy loading, and a capacity to serve small and medium size operations. The two models are available in 420- and 500-cu.-ft. mixing capacities. A hydraulic side-shift discharge conveyor and optional inclining extension provide unloading versatility.

Bale spear

Worksaver's Global-Style Integrated Frame Bale Spears feature an all-welded frame design with Euro Style quick-attach brackets to fit front loaders with the standard Global/Euro implement hook. Other features include cast steel weld-on sockets and bolt-in forged spears.

Several bale spear models are available with single, dual or triple spears with ratings from 2,200 lbs. to 4,000 lbs. The single- and dual-forged spears offer a useable length of 42-in., while the triple-spear models offer a 26- or 42-in. useable length. Available in 10 bed sizes ranging from 7 ft. × 7⅔ ft. to 8 ft. × 11½ ft., each unit includes the bale bed/dump combination, a 6,000-lb. dump capacity, a 2,850-lb. lifting capacity and independent arm action with wide arm travel of 3½ ft. to 9½ ft.
