In honor of May Beef Month, here are the 11 most decadent burgers from across the country.
In Las Vegas, where everything is over the top, Holsteins at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is serving the Gold Standard, a dry-aged beef sirloin burger with smoked bacon, aged goat cheddar cheese, tomato confit, baby arugula and garlic-chive aioli. Want something a little more decadent? They've got the Billionaire Burger with Kobe beef, foie gras, port onion marmalade, frisee and truffle mayo.
For the ultimate indulgence, though, one must go to Fleur by Hubert Keller in Mandalay Bay, where Hubert Keller has perfected his FleurBurger 5000. The creation consists of a foie gras and black truffle-stuffed Kobe burger served on a brioche truffle bun with Keller's special sauce, and accompaniments include a bottle of Chateau Petrus 1995 poured in your very own Ichendorf Brunello stemware, imported from Sweden. By the way, the "5,000" in the name is not just a random number -- it's also the price. But, of course, the staff shipping your stemware home for you as a keepsake is included.
Taking it down a notch, you've got some other interesting options on the Strip, such as the "father of the mini burger" -- chef Sammy DeMarco’s Original Mini Burgers at First Food and Bar in the Palazzo. Made up of four all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and tomatoes, it must sound familiar. He even dubs his sauce a "Burger King-type sauce for adults" and includes all the things you would normally find in a steak tartare, such as cornichon, capers and mustard.
