I heard three words last week that I hadn’t heard since I moved to Montana eight months ago: "I’m a vegetarian."
Now, while I personally do not practice vegetarianism, I do believe people have the right to eat whatever they want. That being said, the conversation continued as such:
Me: "I work for the Montana Stockgrowers, promoting the beef industry."
Him: "Well, I’m a vegetarian."
Me: "Ok, would you like it better if I said that I try to preserve the ranching culture of Montana?"
Him: "No. Ranching is like owning slaves on a plantation. Leonardo da Vinci said that one day, man won’t have to kill animals for food. We need to be more like him. He was a smart man."
