USDA reported that U.S. farm exports totaled $137.4 billion in the past year. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack says this is a new record, “This is $22.5 billion higher than a year ago.”

He says this is a testimony to the quality, productivity and affordability of the food products American farmers are producing and selling around the world. Vilsack says this is good for agriculture and also good news for the U.S. economy. He says one out of every 12 jobs in the U.S. is related to agriculture.

He is optimistic this trend will continue, “We expect, anticipate and project that we will have another good year for agricultural exports next year.”
