WASHINGTON, (www.AgPR.com) – Providing invaluable educational, leadership and networking opportunities for America’s next generation of beef producers, the newly established Youth Activities at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) 2009 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show will be sponsored by the Farm Credit System Foundation.
The Farm Credit System Foundation is a non-profit corporation supported annually by donations from Farm Credit System institutions and by more than 1,000 individuals affiliated with the Farm Credit System.
“The financial support the Foundation receives demonstrates the Farm Credit System’s ongoing commitment to the future of U.S. agriculture and rural America,” said John Hays, Vice President for National Programs with the Farm Credit System Foundation. “Each year since its founding, the Foundation has been able to expand its grant-making program to support the next generation of U.S. agricultural producers and leaders in rural America.”
The Farm Credit System Foundation’s sponsorship of the NCBA convention’s Youth Activities will support a range of activities including a cattle judging contest, a junior quiz bowl, a team marketing competition and a public speaking contest. Contests provide team and individual competition and accommodate youth as young as 9 years of age though young adults in college. Check each individual contest for age eligibility and rules. The youth events take place during the 2009 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show, set for Jan. 28-31 in Phoenix, AZ. More information on the event is available at www.beef.org
“The Farm Credit System Foundation is pleased to support this newly established youth program as part of the leading beef industry convention and trade show,” Hays said. “As with the other programs the Foundation supports, which range from farm safety education for rural youth to leadership development programs for young, beginning and small agricultural producers and rural leaders, this reflects Farm Credit’s historic mission to serve agriculture and rural America.”
