Sponsored by the AGRI 610 Beef Production class, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Block & Bridle, this event will have free hamburgers and hotdogs, free samples of beef jerkey and flat iron steaks, prizes and agriculture speaker, Trent Loos to inspire and share the beef production story with students. The event's slogan is, "Animal Agriculture: We Feed the World, and so much more!" I'm proud of the students and faculty at Fort Hays State University, and I wish I was able to attend. If you're in the area, I highly encourage you to take part in this event!
Quick BEEF Daily Fact: As summer gets closer, I can't help but think of spending time at the lake, cutting hay and of course, grilling season! The Beef Checkoff sponsors an awesome newsletter called the Beef Retail Blast, by Jim Henger. In the latest newsletter, there was a list of the top ten grilling cuts for summertime. Check them out to see how your favorite cut stacks up. (My favorite, the ribeye, is in the number two spot.)
