Sharing our everyday stories is what I encouraged the attendees at the American National CattleWomen (ANCW) Region 7 meeting last weekend in Chamberlain, SD, to do. There, I conducted a two-hour workshop on social media training. The women had shared their frustrations about the people on Facebook and Twitter who share their every thought through tweets and status updates. However, I told the participants that by mixing in their personal stories, along with links to recipes, good articles and websites, it can create the perfect environment for a consumer to really get to know a livestock producer while gaining some important educational information, as well.
Today, I want to find out your skills and comfort levels using social media tools. Do you use Facebook, Twitter, blogs or YouTube? How do you use these tools to share the agriculture story? Don't believe in the power of social media? Watch this video below, the same one I showed to the ladies at the ANCW meeting, to learn more about the social media revolution and the mass numbers who are involved in online conversations.
