Check out the morning’s "vlog" post summarizing day one at the 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, TN. Plus, it’s time to reveal the winner of the latest giveaway!
Things are heating up in Nashville at the 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show, which runs through Saturday. Rather than mince words, I decided to put together a video blog to recap the highlights of the first day.
You’ll notice today’s newsletter is filled with updates from the 19th Annual Cattlemen’s College, and I will reflect on some of the key lessons learned that I’m taking back with me to our family ranch in South Dakota. Listen to my thoughts on this topic in the video below.
As promised, I’m giving away copies of my children’s book, “Levi’s Lost Calf,” at the tradeshow and online. Yesterday, you weighed in on finding profitability in volatile times. Your comments entered you to win, and we have randomly selected our winner! Congratulations to RG Vieira!
On the volatility of the marketplace, Vieira writes, “I think we're doing fine right now, but our suppliers will certainly want a piece of our success. I'm already hearing talk of huge percentage increases in lease rates for dry, native pasture and irrigated pasture, as well. Time to lock in long-term agreements with options at the end of the terms.”
Stay tuned for additional prizes to be awarded to trade show attendees, as well as Facebook and Twitter fans. We have more books and even three pairs of Stetson boots to hand out! Keep checking back for more information on the conference and check out our running photo gallery of all the fun-happenings at convention!
