FDA announced two livestock-feed recalls this week, reports www.meatingplace.com, both suspected of being adulterated with ruminant or mammalian protein.
Vita Plus Corp., Gagetown, MI, recalled 27,694,240 lbs. of dairy feed produced between February 2005 and June 16, 2006, for suspected contamination with mammalian protein. The feed was distributed in Michigan and the recall is complete.
Meanwhile, Burkmann Feeds LLC, Glasgow, KY, recalled an unknown amount of custom feed containing an ingredient called Pro-Lak, which may contain ruminant-derived meat and bone meal. The Burkmann feed was distributed in Kentucky, meatingplace reports.
