The average price for diesel rose 2¢ for the week ending July 24, but gasoline surpassed $3 for a new average record, reports Landlinemag.com.
The U.S. Energy Info Administration says the national average price for diesel registered $2.946/gal. for the week, the highest average since October 2005, and up more than 60¢ from the same week in 2005. Prices for regular unleaded gasoline meanwhile hit an average of $3.015/gal. for the week, according to the Lundberg Survey of 7,000 U.S. gas stations, eclipsing the previous high of $3.011 in September 2005.
