The Senate is expected to complete its business by the end of this week before it leaves for its summer recess. The House adjourned last week.

Among the issues for Congress to consider when it returns after Labor Day are such important ag items as: FY 2007 ag appropriations, Vietnam permanent normal trade relations (PNTR), Peru Free-Trade Agreement, CAFO legislation, and mandatory price reporting. During the recess, many senators and congressmen will attend county and state fairs, town hall meetings and various other events in their states and districts. It's a good time to let them know your opinion on vital issues facing American ag. Contact your representatives' offices and ask to meet with them, or ask where they will be having town hall meetings. Remember, "all politics is local."
