The Beef Promotion Operating Committee recommended this week a $53.15-million Beef Board budget for fiscal year (FY) 2007, which begins Oct. 1, 2006. The budget for the Beef Board, which administers the national checkoff program, includes projected revenue of $45.6 million for fiscal 2007, plus money from program budgets costing less than originally estimated, a news release says. The FY 2006 budget was $52 million.
The breakdown, which must be approved by the full Beef Board and USDA, includes $27.5 million for promotion, $7.4 million for research, $6.6 million for consumer info, $1.5 million for industry info, $4.9 million for foreign marketing, $2.5 million for producer communications, $230,000 for evaluation, $125,000 for program development, $210,000 for USDA oversight, and $2.1 million for administration.
