Burt Rutherford - Senior Editor, BEEF Magazine
Burt has nearly 30 years’ experience communicating about beef industry issues. A Colorado native and graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in agricultural journalism, he now works from his home base in Amarillo, TX, in the heart of cattle feeding country. He worked as communications director for the North American Limousin Foundation and editor of the Western Livestock Journal before spending 21 years as communications director for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. In addition to helping keep BEEF readers informed of trends and production practices to bolster the bottom line, he keeps cattle feeders informed through BEEF Feeder, a 6X/year supplement to BEEF magazine.

Alex Avery is Director of Research and Education at the Hudson Institute’s Center for Global Food Issues. Prior to joining the Center, he was a McKnight research fellow conducting basic plant research at Purdue University. Alex has written about agricultural, food safety, regulatory and global population issues for major newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Times. Alex represented the Center at the United Nations World Food Summit in 1996. His new book, The Truth About Organic Foods, is rapidly changing the debate about the future of farming and food.
