Obama's background is a legally trained community organizer. A community organizer’s job is to petition the government, local, state or federal, for funding.

No one should be surprised that we have a president leading the methodical movement of wealth from one group to another group.

I get my insurance from my company,,, for now. My brother is self-employed. He buys his own insurance. Pre-ACA he paid $334 per month for him and his wife, both age 51. He makes pretty good money. The costs of a like-for-like policy under ACA will cost him a little more than $1,100 per month.

ACA is raising the cost of his insurance almost 326%. More than triple what it was in the pre-ACA days.

ACA causes people making a living wage to pay more. ACA subsidizes insurance for those that make less money. That is a disincentive.

Plus, Think about it. The government just gave big insurance companies almost 100,000,000 new customers, and told them they could charge anything they want, the government pays for it. No, I pay for it.

Who is to blame? Easy to answer that one.

The fault lies with our educators who teach history. They have failed to teach that history repeats it self over and over with the same results. The eventual demise of the United States democracy is clearly described in the history of all such governments. This country passed the point of no return with the election of Obama. The selfish interests and historical ignorance of the population has assured this country's demise.

The Affordable Care Act is separate from the budget or the debt ceiling. Some House Republicans are tying them together because they have failed to get rid of Obamacare in their own House or in the Senate or by Supreme court decree. They are loosers . Their tantrum is hard on all of us in the end.

Obama care is nothing more than additional government control, which we do NOT need. More socialist government, Obama style. You decide who is responsible for the government shutdown? Oh, and by the way, when they do decide to return back, all of those government employees get back pay, but all of the poor tax-paying Joes that have suffered with reduced revenue as a result of this, they get nothing, just like we are getting now....... nothing.

The Republicans are fault. They are doing everything in their power to kill obamacare,as the admitted, even if it takes shutting the gov. down. They don't care who it hurts if it takes it to get what they want. For those that don't like obama care should offer suggestion to make it better. It is now the law.

they have made suggestions all they wanted was the same as obama gave to large corporations 1 more year before individual mandate and if you are saying its a law and cant be changed then you are in trouble

Republicans do not know how to govern, but they do know how to elect and reelect a president. Everybody on here knows that democrats can't do anything right. There is no way the democrats could elect the first African American president in our nation's history. For sure, the democrats could not reelect Obama as a result of the economy. Thus, the only explanation for Obama's election and reelection is because Republicans encouraged the American people to vote for someone other than their nominees. May I assume that all of those over 65 are in favor of universal healthcare?

It's the job of the House of Rep. to send a balanced budget to the Senate .The Senate then is to approve a balanced budget to send on to the President for approval. The Senate has not approved a budget in over five years. It's time for Harry and Nancy to stop trying to break this country and send a balanced budget to the President.

Too many Americans refuse to open their eyes to obama's Marxist ideology. Obamacare is not about healthcare, it's about control. Our freedom is at stake. "Medicine is the keystone in the arch of socialism." Lenin

Obama should have just offered tax credits for having health insurance without all the regulatory craming. So many forget someone has to pay for those credits. We seem to be on the down side of the 200 year run for democracy, when everyone has voted themselves so much nothing works any more.

I blame all the uneducated people in big city's who solely vote based on race.

Squarely on the shoulders of the Grand Obsolete Party! It's been hi-jacked by a radical wing, the Tea Party,.... which is a class party out-of-touch with the middle of the political spectrum and could care less about their fellow Americans.. "I'm alright, Jack: F...U" attitude is the problem, just like the income gap that is destroying America's middle class. Also, reminds me of the recklessness of the Wall Street Barons before 2008..., no difference.

It's the job of the House of Rep. to send a balanced budget to the Senate for approval .It's the job of the Senate to then send a balanced budget on to the President for approval .The Dem. controlled Senate has not sent a balanced budget to the President in five years .Because they want to spend more than the government takes in . You and I know who has to pay this debt off. It's you and me in higher taxes. So Harry and Nancy need to get their heads on straight and get a balanced budget together or get out and let someone who knows how do it.

Our political system is broken. They all need to be voted out. BUT any business in our world has a leader. The buck stops on his or her desk. OBAMA is mostly to blame. And his continued blame and mud throwing proves he is in over his head.

Anonymous

The whole system is broken and has become a game of one up man ship with no regard for the what the general public wants or needs. Political service should be just that and not a career. The whole political system needs a major overhauling.

Tea Party tried to force Republicans to address it six months ago, Republicans at fault. Democrats refused to negotiate at any time, Democrats fault. President Obama failed to correct his party or lead not dictate, Obama's fault. Government should be business model instead it shows us how not to run our business.

Anonymous
on Oct 4, 2013

Government was never intended to be a model for business. If we confuse the two, we are setting ourselves up for major frustrations.

Founding fathers created the checks and balances that are in play now. I just believe our civics lessons failed to mention "Checks and Balances" mean "Brakes ON" in the short run.

Why do people vote for incumbents?

Anonymous
on Oct 4, 2013

I beileve the 95% of the people in charge are out to gain for them selves and not the people that elected them to the position. There shouldn't be back door deals and all of the non related items attached to bills as they pass and that's just the start of the problems. How about getting a president that can take charge and start at the top and work down to improve the almost unreversable mess our government is in!!!

on Oct 4, 2013

Responsibility squarely on the President, with high-ranking Democrats as his "supporting cast" who rammed Obamacare through in the first place by buying votes and shutting Repub's out of the legislative process. By passing the original legislation in that fashion they're responsible for this mess now. (If Republicans had been at least partly on board originally, they couldn't object as much now.)

I'm tired of the Pres. & Dems describing Obamacare as "the law of the land": (1) if all laws were static and unchangeable there wouldn't *be* any Obamacare, and (2) because the Pres. shows he doesn't consider it "the law of the land" by his actions. He has simply choosen to ignore parts of the law for political benefit--giving waivers to his crony business buddies and unions, deferring the employer health insurance mandate, and granting a special exemption to Congress and congressional staffers.

Maybe the Repub's ought to sign off on the deal & end the shutdown if the Pres agrees to implement the *entire* law as passed by Congress--with no special deals for anybody. It would crash and burn by the end of January, at which point the devastation it is bringing to jobs and our economy would even be apparent to the "low information voter" crowd who blindly supports this president without questioning either his policy or his motives.

Why is everyone on here, "Anonymous"?
I said "Democrats", because Obama and Harry Reid are ones.
Buck never gets to Obama, but I'll lay it there anyway. He's the CEO. When the business goes awry, is dysfunctional, that's where the buck stops.
Republicans have consistently capitulated, turned aside from the so-called principles they espouse. This has enabled bad behavior and intransigence from a President who thinks he can do anything he wants.
Will they finally stand their ground or will the petulant, arrogant, angry, authoritarian get his way, as he continues to keep his promise in the 'fundamental transformation of America'?

Obama doe's not want to negotiate and lead like a leader should. It is my way or not at all. Offers have been made by Republican's but rejected by
Democrat's.

We the people. Once voting Obama a mistake twice stupidity!

Anonymous

Obama translates into Democrats. HE is shoving the Obamacare law down the throats of the American people...the majority of which do not want it. The government is supposed to be "the people," but the politicians are ignoring the will of the people.
Reid refused to accept the idea of a bi-partisan committee to solve the issue...so it falls on the shoulders of the Democrats.
On the flip side of the coin, the Republicans are asking for some other econimically unheathy things in the budget.
I don't trust any of them.

Basic concept of democracy is compromise- If shutting down the government is what it takes to get Obama to realize hes the president and not the emperor then shut it down!

Anonymous

President Obama, because he said he would not negotiate and the Dems Reid and Pelosi don't have an original thought. They follow him like rats after the Pied Piper.

Anonymous

The democrats want the government shutdown as something that they can blame on Republicans so that it will benefit them at election time.

Anonymous

The republicans had six months to work this out, and they wouldn't do it. This is all on them.

Anonymous
on Oct 4, 2013

The Republicans could have negotiated a new budget six months ago. They drew this out to try to force Obama to dump the Affordable Care Act. They didn't think he would allow the government to shut down. This miscalculation may cost them the House in 2014.
