Co-founder Andras Forgacs has criticized the overall cost of the traditional agricultural practices used to farm animals.

“If you look at the resource intensity of everything that goes into a hamburger, it is an environmental train wreck,” he says.

The company believes that by carefully layering mixtures of cells of different types in a specific structure, in-vitro meat production becomes feasible.
