Congress passed the emergency supplemental bill with a much reduced disaster assistance package for ag. Disaster assistance for ag was reduced to $500 million and only for disaster counties hit by Hurricanes Katrina, Ophelia, Rita and Wilma. This reflects the administration's opposition to the Senate-passed disaster assistance package, which was for $3.9 billion and covered the U.S.
