Doctor recommends lean beef as part of high-protein diet.
Coleen Andruss often sees the same problem with many of her patients as they attempt to follow a high-protein weight-loss diet.
The types of proteins they are allowed to consume for the diet is limited. However, the results of a current study involving a lean type of beef as an additional dietary option are promising.
For three months Andruss, a St. George doctor specializing in the prevention and treatment of obesity, has been working with Tracy Thompson, 39, a mother of six. A diet that heavily focuses on the consumption of lean proteins has played a major part in Thompson’s weight-loss regimen.
“When I kept to it I did really well,” Thompson says. “I occasionally strayed but I still lost weight. I lost weight every time I came in, which surprised me a bit because I was not being good.”
