Managing Drought-Stressed Calves


With a majority of beef cattle country affected by drought during the 2012 grazing season, forage sources are at a premium for fall and winter. That heat and lack of moisture has stressed pastures and the grazing animals that depend on them. Connie Larson, PhD, who serves as ruminant manager for Zinpro research & nutritional services, provides some advice on feeding and management considerations for drought-stressed calves as the industry heads into the fall and winter seasons.
