No more super-sized french fries and soft drinks at McDonald's restaurants by the end of 2004. Attacked by critics as a cause of growing obesity in the U.S., McDonald's says the change was a move to support a balanced lifestyle and an effort to promote healthier behavior.

McDonald's move comes just before the anticipated May release of a film called “Super Size Me.” The so-called documentary chronicles the physical and attitudinal changes in the filmmaker who says he, over the course of a month, ate nothing but super-sized McDonald's meals and gained 25 lbs.
