Australia shipped more than $1.26 billion in beef to Japan in the fiscal year ending June 30, reports Meat and Livestock Australia. That's an increase of 25%, the Japan Times reports. Japan's markets have been shut to U.S. beef exports since the discovery of a case of BSE in late December 2003.

But Australian beef isn't alone in its record setting performance. All Aussie meat products are at record levels as lamb exports rose 27%, offal exports jumped 145% and processed beef exports climbed 138%.
