BRD products

Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal introduces two products for use against bovine respiratory disease (BRD), a major health problem in cattle and the most significant cause of economic loss for the cattle industry.

Nuflor Gold^® treats BRD associated with the four major bacterial pathogens — Mannheimia haemolytica, Histophilus somni, Pasteurella multocida and Mycoplasma bovis. The product is not for use in animals intended for breeding. For more information, call 213-438-8792 or visit www.nuflorgold.com.

Meanwhile, Resflor Gold^® is the only FDA-approved combination antibiotic to treat three major bacterial BRD pathogens — Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni. It combines the antibiotic florfenicol (active ingredient in Nuflor Gold^®) and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) flunixin meglumine (active ingredient in Banamine^®) into one convenient dose for treatment of BRD. The product also provides control of BRD-associated pyrexia in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle.

Resflor Gold's two-pronged attack against BRD targets the bacterial infection and its associated fever. The fast-acting florfenicol reformulation achieves high blood levels quickly in combination with a NSAID to reduce fever and provide a more visible recovery from the disease within six hours of initial dosage, the company says. New Kuhn SpeedRake

Ivomec challenge extended

Merial is extending its Ivomec Challenge for 2010, giving producers a risk-free way to prove that spring parasite control pays.

To participate, producers simply need to use any Ivomec Brand Product on both their cows and spring-born calves in the spring. Then, at weaning, weigh the calves. If the improved 205-day adjusted weight vs. 2009 doesn't cover the purchase price of the Ivomec Brand Product used in the spring, Merial will provide an equal amount of doses of any Ivomec Brand Product for fall.

The Merial offer extends to all four of its formulations of Ivomec brand products.

Yamaha generator
