Trich test required

Effective July 23, North Dakota requires all bulls over 24 months old, and all non-virgin bulls over 12 months, have three consecutive, weekly, negative Trichomoniasis foetus culture tests or one negative PCP test prior to entering the state. State vet Susan Keller says the requirements are the result of trich infections in surrounding states.

Bulls imported for slaughter only, or virgin bulls under 24 months old that have had no potential breeding contact with females, are exempted from the regulation. Bulls imported for exhibit, rodeo or seasonal grazing operations may be exempted with approval of the state veterinarian. For more information, call 701-328-2655; or visit www.agdepartment.com and then click on “Animal Import Permits.”
