Bin-busting corn
USDA's Aug. 10 crop production report projected a U.S. corn crop of 13.1 billion bu., a 3-million bu. jump over July's projection and the largest corn crop since 1933.
Corn production is forecast at 13.05 billion bu., up 24% from last year and 17% above 2005. Based on conditions as of Aug. 1, yields are expected to average 152.8 bu./acre, 3.7 bu./acre more than last year. If realized, it will be the second-highest yield on record, behind the 160.4-bu. yield in 2004.
