U.S. & Vietnam Ink Bilateral Trade Agreement
The U.S. and Vietnam have reached a bilateral market access agreement. This will assist Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The agreement will reduce tariffs on three-fourths of U.S. ag exports to 15% or less, and includes beef products, pork, variety meats, cotton, soybeans and various fruits. The agreement also recognizes the U.S. inspection system that will reduce sanitary and technical barriers for the meat industry. -- P. Scott Shearer, Washington, D.C., correspondent
