Tokyo To Lift U.S. Beef Import Ban Next Week?

Ag, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Shoichi Nakagawa said today the U.S. decision announced Thursday to scale back its nationwide BSE testing program won't affect Tokyo's decision on lifting the ban on U.S. beef imports, the Kyodo News reports. And just scant hours later, the same news outlet reported Japan will officially approve an import resumption next week. -- Joe Roybal
