The merit of money comes into play with the decision of corn farmers (who helped with ownership of ethanol plants). Short term though they may be (as down the road with huge oil and gas discoveries) they were what was in place at the time. Combined with the stagnation and soon reversal in world population it could lead to an interesting scenario.
