Meat Market Update | Ground Beef Sales Boost Prices

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

Ground beef sales have jumped, pushing both the cow cutout and finished cattle cutout higher this summer.
The cow cutout jumped $32 since June 1st, due to the fact that the main product, which is ninety percent trimmings, jumped about $50. Those large increases put support under the primal Chuck and Round from finished cattle because they can also be processed into/for ground beef.
