The contra-seasonal price rally enjoyed by those selling calves and feeder cattle in recent weeks finally spread to fed cattle.
In fact, analysts with the agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) explained Friday that fed cattle prices shattered the previous all-time record high achieved in May by trading at $131-$134/cwt. this week and mostly $208 on a dressed basis.”
Yearling feeder cattle continued trading at record or near-record-high prices too. Calves sold unevenly with the most advance for heifers and the most decline for steer calves weighing more than 500 lbs.
