"I have a smoldering love affair for medium-rare ribeyes at Outback Steakhouse." This was one of the many Facebook status update choices you can blast to the world about your love of beef at the restaurant. In one of the coolest beef promotions I may have ever seen, Outback Steakhouse is giving away 1,000,000 free steaks to celebrate their new wood-grilled steaks at the restaurant. All you have to do is sign up and receive your coupon!
One million steaks is a big number, and I'm sure folks excited are about eating beef and dining out once again! In a very unique promotion, the steakhouse is celebrating beef in a big way, and I'm sure glad we have a supporter of beef like this restaurant.
In addition to the free steaks, you can declare your love for beef at Outback! The website asks visitors: If you love steak so much, why don't you marry it? Once, there you can create a Facebook or Twitter status update about why you love beef.
It’s efforts like this that I can really rally around, as we all need to do our part to boost beef demand. One of the ways we can do that is to remove the stigma beef has with our consumers. Last week, I spoke to MN Minnesota 4-H livestock exhibitors about the importance of sharing our agriculture story with consumers. Later that day, I had a book reading at the Moo Booth, sharing my personal ranch story and the adventure of “Levi’s Lost Calf” with families visiting the fairgrounds. During the reading, I had many questions about what life was like on a cattle ranch, why we dehorn calves, what shelter belts are for, and if I pump my animals full of antibiotics and hormones. I was so excited to have the opportunity to dispel some myths and share my experiences with a diverse crowd at the fair.
Today, I challenge you to share your agriculture story with someone new, nab your $5 coupon at Outback Steakhouse and declare your love of beef on Facebook. These things might feel cheesy, but I guarantee our excitement for ribeye and porterhouse steaks will definitely inspire others to celebrate beef with their families, too. So, get out there and spread the good word about beef as a part of a healthy, well-balanced diet!
