New October Photo Caption Contest Starts Today

RSS

Win power tools from PORTER-CABLE and BOSTITCH by entering our new photo caption contest.

It’s no secret I’m passionate about the beef business. Ever since I was a little kid, I would pour over the EPD information on our sale bulls and memorize each cow and her progeny. I did this so that if and when a customer had questions about our cattle, I would be ready with answers, something I probably picked up watching my dad. Looking back, I’m sure several bull buyers just sort of humored me when this youngster was rattling off information about the family's seedstock in a know-it-all fashion.

No matter who you are, if you’re in the cattle business, you’re not just doing it for the money. It’s too labor intensive, too much of a risk and too big of an investment to do it just for profit; you’re doing it because you genuinely love working with the land and the livestock.

I’ve always been fascinated with the faces of my cattle. It seemed each cow had a face that matched her personality. Looking over my herd of cows, I can usually tell the tag number just by seeing the cow’s face.

This month’s photo contest celebrates the many faces of the cows that we love. This photo I took a few years ago of one of our bulls telegraphs both his docile disposition and endearing personality. I’d like to use this as the subject for our caption contest this month. The prizes are packages of power tools from PORTER-CABLE that are designed for the professional, and built to last.

• The first-place winner will receive a four-tool combo kit worth $239 (shown at left), which includes a ½-in. drill/driver, 6½ -in. circular saw, a tiger reciprocating saw, and LED flashlight, with a compact lithium ion battery, a 4.0 amp/hour max pack lithium ion battery, a lithium ion standard charger, and a 6½-in. circular saw blade, and 6-in. 6TPI reciprocating saw blade, and a kit bag.

• The second-place winner and one person selected via a general drawing of all participants will receive a two-tool combo kit worth $179. It includes a ½-in. drill/driver and ¼-in hex chuck impact driver, compact lithium ion batteries, a lithium ion standard charger, a double-ended bit tip, and a PH2 screwdriving bit.

Entries will be accepted until noon on Oct. 23, and the winners will be announced on Oct. 24. Leave your entries in the comments section below. Good luck!
