Managing cattle to put less stress on them means improved animal performance, less animal morbidity, fewer medical treatment costs, fewer injuries to cattle and people, and fewer damages to facilities.

An Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. workshop, in Vicksburg, MI, will feature the principles and techniques for low-stress cattle handling and highlight the advantages and disadvantages in the design of two cattle-handling facilities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to work with the workshop's guest speaker, Guy Glosson, a cattle handling expert and manager of the 33,000-acre Mesquite Grove Ranch, a 600-head mixed-breed operation near Jayton, TX. Glosson has taught low-stress animal handling as developed by Bud Williams for more than five years in Texas, Montana, New Mexico, Hawaii and Africa.
