The parents of a 10-year-old girl from Mahtomedi, MN, who became seriously ill after allegedly consuming patties contaminated with E. coli, have filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Cargill Meat Solutions Corp. The family says it has thus far incurred more than $300,000 in medical expenses, and future medical costs could top $4 million.

The suit is the latest stemming from an October 2007 voluntary recall by Cargill of more than 840,000 lbs. of ground beef potentially contaminated with E. coli.
