The National Cattlemen's Foundation (NCF) is partnering with USDA to promote premises registration. Consisting of a record of basic information such as address and phone number, premises registration allows animal health officials to notify a livestock owner quickly when a disease or natural disaster puts livestock at risk, but doesn't obligate a livestock producer to participate in further levels of animal ID.

NCF joins a growing list of livestock groups partnering with USDA in the effort. Others involved include the American Angus Association, the National Pork Board, the National FFA Organization, and the IDAIRY coalition, consisting of numerous dairy groups.
