Amarillo to Host National Junior Limousin Show, All-American Limousin Futurity

DENVER, Colo. (May 4, 2011) The North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA) will host the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLS&C) at the Tri-State Expo Complex and the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, July 9 -15. The weeklong, family-oriented event will include membership meetings, social activities, cattle shows, showmanship competitions and a variety of satellite educational events. It all helps NALJA members have fun while learning about the beef industry, public speaking, marketing and leadership.

Lee Pritchard of Crowley, Texas, will evaluate the owned females. Jeff Sargent of Denison, Texas, will judge the steer, bred-and-owned and Lim-Flex® shows. Brian and Janelle Deatsman of Leesburg, Ind., will officiate the revised showmanship contest.

More than 200 exhibitors and their families (800 to 1,000 people total) are expected and will bring about 400 head of cattle to the event. The concluding awards banquet will recognize participants' achievements through NALJA and spotlight the association's purpose - to develop knowledgeable, motivated beef industry leaders while promoting the Limousin breed through fellowship, leadership and education.

Entry fees for this year's NJLS&C are $30 per animal entered by May 16. Late-entry fees will be $60 per animal entered after May 16. The NJLS&C will not accept entries after June 10. Contact the North American Limousin Foundation (NALF) at (303) 220-1693 for more information or visit the web site at www.nalf.org.

The All-American Limousin Futurity (AALF) also will take place at the complex July 15. This year's event will include purebred, Lim-Flex and fullblood shows. Shane Bedwell of Fort Collins, Colo., will be the judge. The AALF open show is one of NALF's four major Medal of Excellence (MOE) shows. To request information about and entry forms for the AALF shows, contact American Cattle Services (ACS) at (580) 597-3006.
